Cricut Christmas Card

This is the other card I made using the Cricut Christmas Card Cartridge. I used Bazzill swirl, Pine, white and green. The white showing on the sleigh is an outline. It takes a little getting use to at least for me doing new things but it was fun.

Christmas Cards

Here are two Christmas cards I made. The white one with the red bow, I found in the Paper Crafting magazine and the other I made with the Cricut Cards Cartridge. The paper I used for this is Bazzill White Swirls which is hard to see, red ribbon and metallic silver with Kaisercraft rhinestones.

Scrapbook Design and You

I finally finished the Scrapbook Design and You course produced by EK Success. Even though I have been scrapbooking for many years, I find it interesting. Especially the color wheel - I just love that thing! I bought the center ruler to keep my titles aligned correctly. Looking forward to having some classes after the holidays.

Bloomsburg Fair

My husband and I went to the fair yesterday. Although it is not his favorite thing to do, he went for me (thanks Scott). My family lived in NYC for many yrs and one of the traditions we had was to skip school on the weekend and drive from NYC with our grandparents to PA. I was always amazed that the entire school district had the week off from school. Growing up in the city I found that truly wonderful; how fortunate for those kids but I on the other hand had to go to school. We would wonder around to all the exhibits and see family members we hadn't seen since the last yr. It was fun to say the least. Now, 40 yrs later we are texted by our kids - "Do you want to buy us supper?" I told Scott that we should not answer the text and run for the exit and then say, sorry we have already left - (aren't I a bad mother?). Of course, we didn't do that. We met them gave them money and wished them a nice evening with their friends being the good parents that we are. Believe it or not I didn't bring my camera. I did think about keeping the stubs for admission as my momento and putting it in my scrapbook but didn't even do that. Sometimes its nice just to go and relax and not have to take pictures. I am  learning I don't have to scrapbook everything that happens in life. Somethings I would rather forget, wouldn't you? Anyway, if you haven't gone to the fair (Bloomsburg) that is, go-it is a beautiful day and go without your camera. Just enjoy all the people around you and your loved ones. Enjoy the colors, sounds and smells.

Scrapbook Vendor Story

Well, I survived a crop about two weeks ago. I was quite disappointed as things did not go as I had hoped. I had put in a lot of time in different crafts to display the paper I sell. I decorated a clock, a birdhouse, frame and big paper clip. It was fun doing it but disappointed with the results. There were about 8 vendors and most of us are small. However, there was one huge vendor and of course all the ladies were in awe of them as I was-to have so many papers, embellishments, etc was amazing. And the owners were very pleasant. However, it was disheartening that the rest of us were not as busy as we had hoped. So, is that how it is in the business world of scrapbooking or weekend crops? Do most small businesses like mine and others have to go up against a large business? How do you compete? Is that even fair to the small scrapbook business to be put up against such a large scrapbook business? If I had known that I am not so sure I would have wanted to participate - is that fair to me or or the others? I spent more money this year to be competitive and made less. Yes, I did enjoy the ladies I was with; a great group of ladies and the atmosphere was great. And then, would you believe, the hotel overbooked and we small vendors had to move and they wanted to put me and another lady in a room down the hall where we would be virtually unseen. Thankfully, that didn't happen and other decisions were made but it was quite interesting to say the least. Any thoughts?

eBay VP: “We Oppose the Bill to Impose New Tax Burdens on Small Businesses” eBay Main Street - Public Policy and Breaking Ecommerce News

If you enjoy shopping on Ebay, then please call your Congressman about the above tax impositions on buyers and sellers. This will make Ebay seller's fee's go up and it will be passed onto you. Currently, most sellers give Ebay 12% of their profits, then Paypal must be paid as well. But if we have to start collecting taxes from every state that is going to cost all of us more.
Thanks for listening.

Girly and Fun Crafts with Kaisercraft products.

I have more time now since my daughter's graduation party is over. I will show some pics of the centerpieces I did later on. In the meantime, here is a project I worked on last week. Hey Birdie paper pad, hot pink paint, chipboard letters, box, mod podge, glaze to give the letters and edges of box a shine. And I even made a card. All products are from Kaisercrafts and available from myscrapbookaddiction.com

Card made with Hey Birdie Paper Pad.

Little gift box for my niece, Abby. A picture of her can go
 in the oval.

Funny Crop Stories

About a month ago, I was going to go to a crop sponsored by my friend Karen. I brought everything I needed, so I thought. I asked Karen what should I bring? She said, "Bring your chipboar album and paper." So I did. I had my chipboard album covered with paper and mod podged and was sitting there wondering what to do next. Never thinking I needed pictures or anything else for that matter. So, I had to go home which thankfully is only 5 miles away. My wonderful friends told me I was under to much stress because my daughter left for Florida on her senior missions trip, I was planning her graduation party and other things were going on so my mind was not totally with it. But we all laughed and had fun with it. I did go home and get the pictures but decided to finish my daughter's scrapbook album of graduation night. I did eventually get the chipboard album done although it still doesn't have pictures in it. And on another occassion, I went to a crop as a vendor with my shirt on inside/out. And again, another good friend, Ladonna, told me about my fashion mistake before I made a complete idiot of myself

Do you have a funny story or something silly you have done at a crop? Tell us your story, become a follower of my blog and you will be entered into a drawing. One person will win a pack of brand new Cricut trimmer replacement scoring blades. Funny Crop Stories Give Away will end Tuesday, July 27, 2010. But you must leave your story and become a follower of myscrapbookaddiction2.blogspot.com to enter the drawing.

Thanks!! Look forward to reading your stories.

Cleaning Cricut Cutting Mats

I don't know about you but I had heard using a baby wipe to clean your cutting mat works wonders! So, last night, I was using my cricut machine and the paper started to slide while it was cutting. So, I thought I would try the baby wipe idea and to be honest alot of dirt came off (sounds disgusting, makes me wonder about the rest of my house). Anyway, I tried it and I have been using the same mat a few more times and the paper is not sliding. It seems to have a little more stickness to it. Don't get me wrong, I do have some brand new mats here to use or sell but I am cheap and I thought I would give it a try. If you have tried this and it works let me know. I have also heard using the 2 way glue by ZIG works. Have you tried the glue marker? Let me know how it goes or if you have any other tips to prolonging  the life of  your cricut cutting mat.

Mother's Day Give Away

Now that NSD is over what are your plans for Mother's Day? Will you be spending time with your family, have the day off and your family wait on you hand and foot? Read a book? or scrapbook all day without interruption? Hmm, I think I like the last one but I would want to have dinner with my family. We usually have steaks on the grill and strawberry shortcake (my favorite) and then I can watch everyone do dishes and all the cooking and cleaning up. Sometimes, I feel a little guilty but it usually doesn't last to long. So, those are my plans. What are yours? Leave a comment and your name will be entered into a drawing. You could win a prize - a cricut spatula!

National Scrapbook Day Celebration

How did you celebrate NSBD? Well, I had a lot of journaling and titling to do. But, I finished Christmas and some other pages of my kids. I still have several more pages to complete. I am glad for my good friends who showed up to scrapbook with me. Prizes, Happy Mother's Day chocolate lollipops, chocolate covered strawberries (they were a big hit) and chocolate covered pretzels were among some of the delicious goodies we shared today. My good husband cooked chicken on the grill for us for dinner - wasn't that nice? Even after he rode his dirt bike. And I certainly wouldn't have a nice big place to scrap if it wasn't for him. So, a big thank you goes to Scott for helping NSBD be a hit at our place.

National Scrapbook Day

So, how will you be celebrating National Scrapbook Day? Leave your comments. As for me, I invited some friends over to scrapbook. We have been re-doing part of the basement over so all of us ladies have a large enough place to spread all our paper out and scrapbook or cardmake if someone wanted to. Still have to paint the ceiling and part of a wall, hang curtains and I wanted to paint the concrete floor but not sure I will get to it. We will probably have cold cuts for lunch and order pizza for dinner. So, tell us how you will spend this day. However, you spend the day, enjoy it with your family and friends.

Refinishing an antique table

Well, after being stored in my basement for nearly 2 years, I finally decided to refinish my great grandmother's table. So far, I have stripped most of the paint and shellac off and when I am done I am going to either stain it or just polyurethan it. What do you think? I have not finished the bottom of the table as of this date but I am working on it. So, if you decide to do a similar project, make sure you wear rubber gloves and do it outdoors.

Altered Paint Cans

Did you know you can make ugly paint cans beautiful? And it is not hard to do. Mind you, I did these a while ago but they still make great gifts. You can purchase cleaned paint cans from your local hardware store for around $4.00. You will need ribbon, beads or no decorations for the handles. I found the beads at a craft shop. ModPodge works great for adhering the paper to the can. The pink can was made with Breezy Designs Baby Bree scrapbook kit paper. The wedding can hearts came from Breezy Designs and the paper and ribbons I had. All you have to do is pick your color scheme and pattern paper. Cut the paper (12x12) in half. Oh, and it helps if you make a template so you can get around the handles without taking the handle off. My husband helped me. ModPodge the can a little at a time and not the paper was helpful to me. Slowly adhere the paper and get the bubbles out. Stay in a well ventilated place as the smell can be overbearing. Decorate your can. You can fill it with party items or anything at all. Makes a great gift for any occassion. Let me know if you have any questions or show me your latest altered paint can creation.

Scrapbooking and Colonoscopies

Yes, ladies you heard right. I know it is an embarrassing thing but as woman especially 50 something, I would encourage you to go get a colonoscopy. I put it off for a year because of the anxiety. There is no family history of colon cancer in my immediate family. However, to my surprise, I found out I had a polyp and it appears to have precancerous cells. Of course, it was removed and sent for pathological testing. And I have to go back for another one in 3-5 years. While the prep was disgusting and made me not feel well, I am glad it is over and the bad cells were removed. Yes, the prep work is worse than the procedure itself I am told. But, for me it took the entire day to recover. I did go out for breakfast afterwards but I still did not feel well for the rest of the day. So, I took it easy and rested. Should you decide to go through with it you will need to take someone with you because you will be given a general anesthetic. While you are preparing for this momentous day give yourself a reward for going through with this - buy yourself a scrapbook gift as a reward for a job well done. Also, to my surprise it is recommended that my kids now be screened when they are 40. God Bless!

A Christmas Present

This year I really couldn't think of anything I wanted or needed for Christmas. Sure, there are the everyday things that I like and could use but nothing really stood out to me. I came up with this idea, why not have a bigger place to scrapbook. Even though I talked to Scott and he didn't seem interested he still gave me money towards my Chrismtas present, the basement project. So, I have saved all my birthday and Christmas money. Not that it would cover everything, it doesn't but God has provided amazingly some low cost things including labor. Hopefully, it won't be long and we will have a nice quiet place scrapbook and enjoy each other's company. Check out the pictures below to see all the progress that has been made. It is amazing the transformation that has occurred thanks to Scott, Josh and Ward and of course the Lord.
